Yixin Cao is a PhD candidate at the Department of Linguistic and Translation, City University of Hong Kong. During the past three years, she served as a volunteer translator at Guokr*MOOC community, the largest collaborative translation group in China where the foreign MOOCs are translated into Chinese. Currently, she is exploring how the nature of collaborative translation has been changing as a result of technological and social-cultural revolution.
Her articles discussing the role of collaborative translators and the evolution of the crowdsourcing translation communities were published on Chinese Translators Journal and East Journal of Translation, two of the most authoritative journals on translation studies in China. Her speech delivered at the "Conference for the 60th Anniversary of META" addressed the quality problems found in the crowdsourcing translation mode in translating the MOOC subtitles.
