Languages & The Media 2021 – FAQ
When will the 13th Languages & The Media take place?
The 13th Languages & The Media conference and exhibition will take place as a five-day online event on 20 – 24 September 2021.
Why is the conference not taking place in Berlin as usual?
We made the decision to migrate the event to a virtual format as a result of the continued restrictions and uncertainties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
What will the event look like in a virtual setting?
We strive to provide the most enjoyable experience for all participants and our mission is to offer the same value, and hopefully, pleasures of our in-person conferences. The conference will be held on the virtual platform Eventtia, which combines live streamed sessions, recorded presentations, live chats, one-on-one meetings and community discussions to connect with other attendees and speakers. The platform also features a virtual exhibition space where sponsors will showcase their solutions and technologies.
The conference programme will include live workshops, keynotes and panels, pre-recorded presentations with live Q&As and networking sessions scheduled over five days.

The conference platform will be accessible to registered participants for two weeks after the event.
Will the conference sessions be recorded and available after the event?
All sessions will be recorded and made available for on-demand streaming on the conference platform for up to two weeks after the event to all registered participants.
Will I be able to choose which session to attend? Can I switch sessions during the virtual conference?
Yes, just as you would at our face-to-face events, you will be able to attend the sessions of your choosing and move from session to session. Furthermore, you will be able to watch the recording of any session you missed at the end of the conference day.
Will the conference sessions be accessible?
Keynotes and panels will feature live captioning through respeaking provided by our live captioning sponsor Red Bee Media. One morning and one afternoon workshop will also be live captioned. Most presentations will be subtitled into English with files kindly provided by speakers. The recordings of the Q&A sessions will be captioned by our sponsoring partner Take1 and the subtitles will become available on the platform one day after the live session.
